International Criminal Court

The US needs to reestablish the moral leadership it assumed after WW II, when it prosecuted Nazi war crimes. The most vulnerable ares of the world, particularly Africa, need a highly visible and vigorous champion against the perpetrators of genocide and other atrocities. Our engagement with the International Criminal Court can be progressive, but the time for engagement is now.

Awfully anxious to give up the right to a trial by jury, aren't you? Keep this in mind whenever you have the urge to trade down to "European" justice: The only fair system of justice to ever come out of Europe was the English system, which we now use. Continental systems are always politically loaded and the ICC is certainly no exception. Trial is by "tribunal" with guilt (which is almost always the verdict)decided by 3 politically appointed judges. No thanks.
